Plymouth College of Art has purchased the Skills and Enterprise Development Agency for the Creative Industries in the South West, ArtsMatrix.
In a bid to support and build upon the success of ArtsMatrix, which went into voluntary liquidation in December 2009, Plymouth College of Art was successful in procuring the company and took ownership last week.
This further important strategic development presents a fantastic opportunity to build on the extensive reputation of the ArtsMatrix and continue to provide support for the Creative Industries.
Hannah Revell, Creative Business Services Development Manager, says: “Work is currently being undertaken to determine the shape of this support and how the successful history of ArtsMatrix will be further developed by the College with collaboration and partnership.”
“These activities, as they develop, with be managed by Creative Business Services as complementary to the existing work that is already being undertaken with the creative sector. We will be providing detailed information and updates over the coming weeks, but if anyone has any questions, please get in touch.”
Lynne Staley-Brookes, Principal of Plymouth College of Art added: "As many organisations in the South West expressed, we felt a loss when ArtsMatrix went into liquidation and saw the gap that would be left in its wake, but now we can continue to provide those services for individuals and organisations in the Creative Industries which, without ArtsMatrix, would suffer.”
ArtsMatrix is the skills and Enterprise Development Agency for the Creative Industries in the South West, excluding Cornwall. It covers Bristol, Devon, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Plymouth, Somerset and Wiltshire.
