'Engaging the Senses' is an exhibition of contemporary art and craft exploring sensory experiences. It runs from Saturday 5 May – Sunday 17 June at the Devon Guild of Craftsmen (Riverside Mill, Bovey Tracey, TQ13 9AF)
How many of us wish we could reach out and feel the beautiful objects displayed in a gallery? Usually we are forbidden to touch - but this new show presents us with multi-sensory creations that can be touched, smelt, watched and heard! Moving beyond the merely visual, visitors can touch, hear and smell different work such as Ruth Spaak’s tactile plastic structures, Jon Williams’ perfumed clay pots and Natasha Lewer’s textured ceramics inspired by childrens toys. Artwork by Tim Layden and Marcia Simlak explores visual representations of synaesthesia. The exhibition aims to trigger rich, new responses to hand-made objects.
