Only 2 months to go until the 6th annual summer school held in and around Drewsteignton, Dartmoor. Organised by artist-led Dartmoor Arts Project the week brings together over 120 creative people for a brilliant week of workshops combined with an evening programme of talks by leading contemporary artists, writers, performers and thinkers. There are 12 courses on offer this year including a new Forged Metals course with Richard Wood from PCAD, a new animation course taught by Josh Gaunt and Anna Aroussi. Earth Arts, Spatial Structures, Storytelling, Stone Carving, Drawing and Painting also on offer plus Kip Gresham returns to teach his advanced printmaking again this year. It is a week where young artists work alongside already established professionals and a chance to spend an entire uninterrupted week of making your own work. The atmosphere and camaraderie is amazing and culminates at the end of the week with a tour of all the work made, productive critiques and screenings and performances by summer school students. For the evening programme there is an excellent line up of speakers including Phoebe Unwin ( BAS7), Sian Ede of the Gulbenkian Foundation and video artists Harrison Wood, plus Paul Thomas founder of the Jerwood Drawing Prize.

BURSARIES...Dartmoor Arts has bursaries to award which cover up to 50% of the summer school fees. These are for young artists or those with limited finances. All the details are on our website www.dartmoorarts.com
