About Me

Hispanic-Moorish architecture that I first saw during my chilhood, formed a lasting impression upon me. The floral designs and mesmerizing patterns me fired my imagination. I do not know if this furnace was catalyzed by the complex Arab geometrical forms that juxtaposed the naturally curving Hispanic shapes that enveloped me.

Recently my life imploded. With enormous personal support from a few people along with the encouragement of the intelligent and sensitive support of Birdwood House and the Mitchell Trust, I have been led to revisit the still pools of my first impressions. In an attempt to forge an understanding from a tumultuous time I have been urged to express myself in Ivan “"Unframed",” an exhibition.
Ivan “"Unframed"” is iron-branded on the arms of a childhood recollection revisited.The work is an expression of a crushed life, brutalised from within, an unfurling, a re-emergence. The Gallery takes on a mantle of a “work in progress”.
The first time all the work is viewed together within Birdwood House, will be a unique experience.Ivan "Unframed" is a progress in itself, allowing the artist and the work to develop and evolve.
